The Institute will advocate for, and may directly provide, practical digital immortality methods that preserve the thoughts, images, and writings of individuals. It will conduct various educational activities aimed at informing the public about both the importance of developing digital immortality methods, preserving data contained on personal websites, and identifying a methodology for addressing future technology changes.
It will participate in relevant conferences by presenting papers, sending representatives, and hosting conference-related events. The Institute also plans to sponsor its own conferences in the future, and is considering offering an educational grant program to allow students of digital immortality to attend these conferences.
The Institute is investigating, for example, the feasibility of sponsoring an online registry of personal websites to highlight the importance of digital immortality, as well as the possibility of offering to guarantee website perpetuation to help make digital immortality an obtainable reality.
